The Government of Canada Vs me
I am not deleting anything, because i think its important to preserve the record.
However, it is my official stance that I do not care.
They always hate me. When I was at SPAR aerospace I was in 4th year Mec E. My official job. i wont disclose due to DND Privileged information. However I found a problem with a piece of equipment that is used to put the airplane wings back on the aircraft.
Let us just say the wings are very important to an airplane.
I checked my work 3 times. Then gave it to my boss in the hopes that it would be over. I did not feel qualified to do anything further and assumed someone smarter would take over.
They put me incharge.
I was maybe 24. We had 6 countries planes in the hanger. So I sent everyone the worst email in that situation:
Shut down all work on the planes that has to do with this part. Nothing flies till we check this out.
then my idiot self had to figure out how to do that. so i did.
I walked onto the shop floor and got told:
“we hate working with women”
and i said:
“awesome, i also hate working with people so if we agree we all hate each other and no one wants to be here, i can do my job can you do yours?”
respectful hate is more efficient than virtue signaling. and people who are honest with themselves disclose their bias because they know it. they think.
while i was doing my job, i noticed a very interesting change. the guys on the shop floor began to apologize when i came down coz they had pictures of a certain nature on their tool boxes.
they began asking for advice about their kids.
maybe the word got out and maybe it didnt. but when i got to one of my update meetings a brown gentleman who head one of the entire business units said to me as i was leaving:
“ hey aman thanks for this meeting, your doing a great job, can you make sure Jane knows and is in the loop”
now i was confused. who the fuck is jane? to which i was told she works with xyz. that made me more confused, that was the guy who put me incharge. so when i asked him who she was, he said:
“you. i cant pronounce your name so i call you jane.”
so the truth is that there are people ive worked with who have put my name in for awards without telling me. to make sure i was recognized. and there are people who have legit changed my name. so they could hide me and take credit.
my position is, i did it coz i like to do a good job. i take pride in my work. and if my name is associated with something that is not ok, then all i have is my name. and it might not mean alot to anyone else, but i worked hard to earn my own respect. so i will call out bad work because it is a professional liability to me. if that makes me a trouble maker then ok.
all institutions evolve with time. if the GOC decides to evolve, then lets not make a big hu-ha about it. im not interested in the credit. im just glad that the job is being done properly.
if you decide to help edmonton, then i am happy to be as professional as i have always been. and if you decide that out of respect you want to hide the pictures on the tool boxes you cant scrape off anymore, then that is your business.
