its hard enough to be canadian today watching the events of the day. then i am in calgary and we have a water main break to deal with. ive lived in calgary before, i used to work here early in my career and am hoping to come back.

the mayor gave a very impressive interview, extremely clear directions and indicated that the provincial government is ready to help. as it should be, we should be able to rely on each level of government. until ofcourse i bounce to the early broadcast on twitter and there is misinformation about how the UCP is giving parts of the city exceptions for not adhering to the ban.

water is not a partisan issue. and the old water pipes are allowed to go to their mechanical end of life naturally and then they are repaired. the old pipes were clay and it would be virtually impossible to predict their failure mode so its just as good a plan as any. this is a 100% engineering problem that impacts all people equally. but seeing those tweets sort of hit me hard. coz we r wondering if we re-use dishes.

we live in a world now where no one is who they say they are. either people hide behind fake accounts on social media, too important to reveal themselves to us riff raff or they use their names and create a brand identity. there is no reality left in the public discourse.

social media helps to segment us like insects, race, religion, color, creed, geography. i dont even blame india or china or whoever else…
