Pride: a somber day
i love this community. i could not have found people with more generous hearts in toronto if i tried. they are so used to being hated, hit and discarded that their hearts bleed for the pain of others.
they never call the cops. they know the cops will turn on them and the gay guys and the trans ppl have it the worst. so the women never skip a beat. they try everything to put in the world the love they never got. adoption, fostering, building community.
when i was in toronto i have the good privilege of living with one of the most iconic activists in Canada. Marusya Bociurkiw or M as we began to create out own community. she was the first documentary on the pussy riots. she was on the ground when crimea happened. an edmonton native, whose father was in a concentration camp and she moved to toronto eventually. her activism puts everyone i know to shame. yet her name, like so many from this community remains in he shadows.
the most important month in the house when i lived with her was pride. it was not jovial. and no one went to the pride parade. the reason is simple, brand washing. companies take over these causes and make a farce out of them. and when she came home from the dyke march with some real serious bitches, i was always wanting to learn more.
this community continues to face extra-ordinary backlash. and i dont get why. if your heterosexual then this community poses no risk to you. they rnt forcing u to date them. they just want the dignity to help their own by being able to donate blood.
