Postulating the concept of the coefficients for social friction
disclaimer: for the last 3 years i have been resecting the impacts of social media and smart phone usage on society. my studies have been focused on a more analytical analysis than a philosophical one, though tne is a a cause and the other is an effect. this is a theoretical concept that seems to hold consistent across my studies thus i am finally writing down my assessment.
In as far as physics is concerned, despite the eccentricites of quantum physics, newtons 3 laws hold steady to explain the world as we experience it. they are copied here for easy reference:
- A body remains at rest, or in motion at a constant speed in a straight line, except insofar as it is acted upon by a force.
- At any instant of time, the net force on a body is equal to the body’s acceleration multiplied by its mass or, equivalently, the rate at which the body’s momentum is changing with time.
- If two bodies exert forces on each other, these forces have the same magnitude but opposite directions.[1][2]
i modified these laws to study the impact of social media on people. where the “forces” were the influences of the combination of notifications and content. the main law i would like to focus on for this article is newtons first law.
