I was in the SDTC kitchen having yet another conversation about race with a white woman who asked me the same fucking question again:
“ya sure but when your walking home at night, and you see some black guys dont you feel uncertain?”
i have been dying to give you the real answer.
brown women look for black men for protection. in 100% of the cases these fucking assholes are bullet proof for us. so when he wore that hoodie, and that shit made tv, i saw my brothers for the first fucking time.
they never say anything. but they are always super big. so they sort of just accidentally get in the way. they nudge in.
because they know that if it gets there they r dead. but atleast they know how to negotiate that without us in the same danger.
i started to monitor myself after she asked me flippantly.
one night i was walking and a bunch of white guys in suits on my right. same side of the street. bunch of guys in hoodies — multi color on the left. i noticed it because i instinctively crossed the street to the brothers. i realized half way.
dont worry RCMP- we knew we were born frivolous. the matter had to do with the white world. so i jessica jonesed it up. we also know when we need to get in between u and our brothers eh.
