Oh Canada- Lament of a Nation
The original book Lament of a Nation by George Grant is required reading in all public policy schools across Canada- i find myself surprised that after once hating the first few chapters enough, to refuse to read the book on moral grounds- today i am grant.
Im old fashioned, im from hicksville alberta. Look u want hermes and channel, we are reitmans and the gap. we rnt fancy- but if ur in edmonton and ur car breaks down in the winter- we will make sure ur ok.
if there is a fire in fort saskachewan the gurudwaras and all the communities are coming together to help each other. no one watches for us. not the premier not the pm not the mayors. we get it. u dont like us.
but today i feel this total loss of the fabric of this nation. im not disappointed in our political leaders- im mortally afraid of them. that is not hyperbole. i am petrified of each and every one of our elected officials. and that is not only unfortunate it is dangerous.
because where do you go when ur political institutions, when the institutions that were created to uphold your rights as Canadians turn on you. i do not support the freedom convoy or anyone who hurt the people of ottawa in a sham protest. but what does it say about our government that the bank accounts were frozen without warrant? that phones can be tapped and people can be ruined without ever a conversation about fault or cause?
activist, women of color are being shot in the streets, targeted on campuses for teaching gender…
