Amarjeet Sohi should resign in disgrace

It really hard for me to write this. i know Mr. Sohi personally. he is familiar to my family and what we call “the community”. my parents still recall his early days. the vaisakhi parade in edmonton used to pass infront of our house. and about 6 families would pool money and make tea and snacks for the guests.

frankly i hated it, because making tea at that scale was quite the thing. and inevitably ppl would use the bathroom and we always had to get a plumber after. we actually started getting porter potties.

mr sohi was a regular back then. he was a community service man. he once saw our driveway, which needed repair. the next day- without our asking, he had called someone and gotten it taken care of.

the the community that usually backs him up, is the millwoods community. but make no mistake, edmonton is my community. i was raised by this town. unfortunately, diaspora societies have an odd culture. they bring with them the customs of their time and place. its as if they r frozen in a cultural stasis. and i was lucky enough to have also grown up in india.

so by the time i got back to etown- none of these people made any sense to me. my mother also experiences ostracism from both the racial elements of society but also the internal back biting of the ever present things we were always doing wrong.

but my father made sure i grew up in his fav show, “the little house on the praries”. i went to OSA- i loved the citadel and while the adults were…
