Well i never thought this day would come. Ive taken exactly 2 oaths in my life, and Canada has decided i am a domestic threat for honoring both. The first is my engineering oath. The second was the oath i took for public service when joining Innovation Science and Economic Development. I know its old fashioned but im one of those- dramatic follows the rules kind of ppl. So let me re-affirm, i never hurt anyone, i have always stood up for other people and ISED should have my name on many files that highlight how much they harass women. in case they want evidence of my life.

It was 2016- I was the MC for Carleton’s Signals Banquet and I was seated next to a gentleman from CSIS. I was researching electricity grids and smart grids were the rage. I was uneasy with the concept. Frankly every point of remote automation on the grid creates a vulnerability for hacking. Something that had already been known due to Russian hacks on the grid.

I didnt know anything about cybersecurity, i still dont. But as an engineer- this creates lack of reliability in the grid. And the wrong transformer being tripped at the wrong time can bring down the NA power supply. I think in 2003? Something happened in the US and brought down the entire north American eastern grid. Ppl were stuck in the subway in Toronto for 6 hrs.
