A Canadian Christmas Crisis Conversation
When parliament hill was burning because no one was paying attention to their jobs, the entire center block was a flame. The then librarian closed the doors to protect the Parliament Hill Library. The general public is not allowed in. However if you take a walk around back, you can see the difference in architecture and color after they rebuilt center block. I spent alot of time there.
From the SDTC offices you had an unblocked view of parliament hill. In 2017 I was doing my thesis and would spend the weekends at the office. For very odd reasons the air show that usually happened on Canada day did not then or some oddity took place. I heard a snowbirds on my side. Ive worked on snowbirds. So i ran to the other side and had a personal view of the entire air show.
So let us say that the librarians who usually would not be questioned when we want to close the iron doors to protect the library of parliament are telling you to close the door. Let us say the Prime Minister has ordered us not to. Perhaps you are the house of commons today. Do you rush forward and help us, or stand behind him and let the library burn.

Forgive me if we wanted a lecture on morality we would watch a movie. If we wanted a sense of belonging we will call a friend. If we wanted our culture to be accepted we will go find a house and have a house party. If we wanted dignity, we will give it to our-self.
I dont really care if you like to chill with Nazis. We chill with different kinds of people. Canada is too cold to be indignant. So we make do.
Where the father took away the death penalty, the son made it one of the most advocated for prescriptions for vets. One party just urinated on a memorial. You guys went a whole different direction eh?
There are other ways to make money.
One Trudeau soured relations with the USA, the other — well, that was certainly interesting. It will come as a shock to you but attacking or not preventing attacks on our largest trading partners are … bad economics. Despite our political demographics.

Christmas in our house is a time of connection. Reflection, correction and conversation. I understand as liberals, conservatives, ndp and greens it might be different in your house.
Might want to think about whose on guard for whom when you carve the turkey this year.
